- CAMRA Awards Day - LLandrindod Wells Oct 05 2024
Tuesday 8 October 2024
RadnorshireCAMRA Awards Day for LLandrindod Wells Oct 05 2024. Local members Chris. Terry, Graham, Dave G, and Tony (a non-member) met at the Temple Bar in Llandrindod Wells. and went straight to our reserved big table at the Temple Bar The Butty Bach was soon replaced by London Pride, with HPA and a 3 Tuns also available. Then owner John was presented with his Licensee Pack for GBG 2025, probably the first time he has been in it. "The icing on the cake was two bowls of chips between us, with a scoop of mayonnaise on one and a bucket of tomato sauce on the other. Tony was on a no chips diet, so more for us".
Then everyone went onto Arvon Ales just 75 meters up the road. There were 3 Wye valley beers to choose from and another three from various breweries including Kinver and Green Duck. There has been a minor change of management, but it looks like it will stay as it is. Manager Christine was presented with their GBG 2025 Licensee Pack. The first one since John and Laura sold the place.

- Royal Oak visit
Saturday 7 September 2024
Radnorshire CAMRA members Chris, David, Terry and Dave Gill shared a car to the pub. Colin and a neighbour arriving later. The beers on offer were :- One from 3 Tuns, which most of us drank and was fine and Ludlow Gold. There were ham or cheese baps on the bar, so that was lunch sorted, with extra crisps or chips available. David got a lift home with Colin and neighbour, while we three stayed for another pint.
- Aberedw Branch visit
Tuesday 9 July 2024
Saturday 06/07/2024 four Radnorshire CAMRA members shared Chris's car and went to the Seven Stars at Aberedw. This community "Buy out" opened in 2019. It was a sadly 'normal' summer day, so we were glad the fire was burning in the background. No-one else was seated in the place, but a few locals passed through during the afternoon. Beer choice was, Wye Valley Butty Bach or HPA. These are regulars, there are no changing beers. Peter, who oversees the place, has been a Radnorshire CAMRA member for years, so no surprise that the beers were in excellent condition. It is a nice olde worlde beamed pub with lots of atmosphere. No TV or music to distract us, so we spent the time happily chatting. Bar staff were as friendly as always, a lot of them live in the village or vicinity. Lunch time sandwiches were available to order, Chris. had bacon, I had sausage and Dave D. had a bacon and sausage combined.
- Seven Stars Pub name
Tuesday 2 July 2024
I wonder if the following applies to the Seven Stars Inn at Aberedw. Perhaps someone can enquire and let us know on the Radnorshire - Sir Faesyfed CAMRA Branch visit on July 6th 2024. 'The Plough is the fifth most common pub name in Britain and the most popular not to involve heraldry. Particularly popular in agricultural areas, the name probably marks a pub close to where the community plough was kept. Some artists used the constellation of Ursa Major, commonly known as the plough, as an illustration on the sign instead—some of these pubs found their name evolving into the Seven Stars.'
- Eagles Inn Rhayader June 2024
Tuesday 4 June 2024
On Saturday June 1st 2024 Radnorshire CAMRA members we were at The Eagles Inn, Rhayader.
The Beer menu was 1. Wye Valley, Butty Bach. 2. Sharps, Twin Coast pale ale. Both of which were in good condition
Some comments about the pub – the positives outweighing any negatives
• Nice ‘olde worlde pub’ with good atmosphere and very nice beer garden • Lighter and more spacious feeling to the place which was clean and better organised noted during previous visits with different owners. • Friendly bar staff. • We were allowed to eat own sandwiches inside.
