March 1st, Dydd Dewi Sant members visit to Knighton
Members of the Radnorshire/Sir Faesyfed branch of CAMRA held their monthly 'meet up' on Saturday 1st March. These meetings are usually on the first Saturday of the month. The Horse & Jockey was the first place to sample their Wye Valley HPA and Butty Bach. The beer was in good condition, but the choice was limited. Then members went onto the chippy to take food into Watsons Micro pub. Here there was a choice of three beers, Whakahari a New Zealand ale from Purple Moose brewery; Spectre a Welsh Dry stout; and Ludlow Gold. All beers in good condition. Both venues had their merits. The Horse and Jockey has a traditional country pub vibe with exposed beams, brasses, log burner etc. While Watson's Ale House is more contemporary as it is a converted shop but does include a beer garden. Both venues were enjoyed by our group.
